Mogul Madness
Learn to ski the bumps

Moguls are the run most skiers avoid, and the one they most want to master. In our mogul skiing lessons in Saas-Fee, part of our Tech Tasters workshops, your instructor breaks the bumps down into simple, learnable skills.

You start on small, soft moguls, then build up to longer and steeper lines as your confidence grows. You learn to use your legs as shock absorbers, where to turn on each bump, and how to keep your upper body calm while your skis do the work.

The skills you learn in the bumps help everywhere else too: better balance, quicker feet and more control on steep or uneven snow. For the theory behind it, read our guide to mogul skiing technique.

What you will work on

  1. Absorption. Bending and extending your legs to soak up each bump and keep the skis on the snow.
  2. Line choice. Reading the moguls and choosing a rounder or more direct line.
  3. Rhythm and speed control. Short, quick turns with a stable upper body, from top to bottom.
  4. Take it home. Drills you can keep practising and, for three sessions or more, a personalised video edit.

Who is it for
Skiers ready to take on the bumps

For intermediate to advanced skiers who can ski red runs in control and want to take on the bumps. It suits skiers who find moguls tiring or scary, and strong skiers who want to ski the zipper line with more speed and style.

Teenagers love it, and it is a great session for families to share. Your instructor chooses the run depending on snow and visibility, starting where the bumps are softest.

Common mistakes we fix
From survival to flow

Most skiers struggle in the moguls because of the same few habits. Your instructor spots them in the first runs and gives you a clear fix for each one.

  • Stiff legs. Locked knees turn every bump into a jolt. You learn to absorb and extend so your skis stay in contact with the snow.
  • Leaning back. Getting pushed back by the bumps makes you lose control. We work on a forward stance and an active pole plant.
  • Turning in the troughs. Turning in the hardest part of the mogul is exhausting. You learn to turn on the top of the bump, where the skis pivot easily.
  • Upper body rotation. Swinging the shoulders throws you off line. We keep the chest facing down the hill while the legs steer.

Thank you for the lesson, Analia! I booked very last minute and I was very happy that were able to do a 1-hour lesson on a short notice. I had a good time and we did a lot of drills, even though it was only one hour.

I’m an intermediate snowboarder who couldn’t progress any further. I had two amazing sessions with Patrick—he first diagnosed what needed to be improved, then prioritized it so we could focus on the most important parts first. After two sessions, it already helped me, and I now know exactly what I need to fix technically and how to actually do it. Patrick is very punctual, easygoing, and has a great sense of humor. He’s also very patient and repeats things again and again until you get it. Highly recommended. As for the school itself, the whole process was fast and smooth. I knew exactly where to meet and when. I know it may sound silly, but I’ve had some not-so-great experiences with other schools in the past.

Booked lessons for my wife’s first time skiing. Analia was kind, patient, and made sure my wife was comfortable the entire time. We enjoyed our time with Analia so much we booked a second day with her and went up to ski the glacier! Excellent and knowledgeable teachers at this school, can’t wait to go back.

Mila’s first ski lesson couldn’t have gone better! At just five years old, we didn’t know what to expect, but Patrick connected with her straight away and made her feel completely at ease. He turned it into such a fun, confidence-building experience. We’re so grateful and would highly recommend!

I booked a private snowboard lesson for my son from Ski Zenit / Bespoke and it was an excellent experience. Communication around the scheduling and rescheduling was very easy and convenient, the team is approachable and responsive. That was just the start, we then got to meet the teacher, Patrick. Simply fantastic, Patrick is able to communicate with children, putting him at their level, gain their trust and truly encourage them to move forward. Our son, 10 years, really advanced these 2 days with Patrick and still proudly talks about him. We will be back!

Good to know
Mogul skiing lessons FAQ

What level do I need?

You should ski red runs in control with parallel turns. No mogul experience is needed.

Are moguls bad for my knees?

Good mogul technique is easier on your knees than fighting the bumps. We focus on smooth absorption and control. If you have an existing injury, tell us before the session.

Which skis are best for moguls?

A shorter, softer all-mountain ski is easiest in the bumps. Ask your rental shop, or ask us for advice when you book.

How many sessions do I need?

Most skiers feel a real difference after one session. Two sessions help you ski longer, steeper mogul runs with confidence.

When do sessions start?

Sessions start at 2.5 hours and can be extended. Late morning is often best, when the moguls have softened in the sun.

Where do we meet?

We confirm the meeting point when you book, depending on where the best moguls are that day. Look for our Bespoke Snowsports sign and our instructors in all-black uniforms.

What should I book next?

If you enjoy the bumps, try our off-piste skiing lessons, or combine it with our ski carving lessons for all-round technique.
